The Results section will also display the number of initial characters, resulting characters, and overall number of words. Once your text is transformed properly, you will be able to copy it, save an image of your text, or reset the tool and start anew.

Choose the Exact Text Transformation You Need

There are different ways to reverse or flip text. In one case all characters will be changed, but in another, each word stays the same, and only the order of words is transformed. Two more kinds of transformations are mirror and upside-down.

Below there is a table describing each method.

Transformation ModeWhat It DoesSimple Example
Reverse TextReverses the entire string of characters, including spaces and punctuation.Hello WorlddlroW olleH
Reverse Word OrderMoves the last word into the first position while leaving the letters in each word untouched.Hello WorldWorld Hello
Simple MirrorDisplays the original string next to an inverted version of itself.ABCABC CBA
Interleaved MirrorInverts alternating characters from both strings.Uses the ABC + CBA pattern
Flip OnlyInverts supported characters by displaying upside-down versions but does not alter the order of the characters.Character appearance changes
Flip and ReverseReverses the order and then inverts the supported characters.Creates an upside-down and backwards result

These options will allow for much easier creation of the desired output. An individual searching for a word flipper would simply wish to invert the order of entire words. An individual searching for a letter flipper would expect every character to be inverted.

How to Use the Tool

1. Enter Your Text

Just type your text in the box below or even paste some text there. You may enter one word, a sentence, a message, a description, a line of text, or more.

Spaces, punctuation marks, and line breaks will also be included in the result, depending on the transformation mode that you will pick.

2. Pick a Transformation Mode

From the drop-down menu under Transformation Mode, pick Reverse Text, Reverse Word Order, Mirror Text, or Flip Upside Down.

Mirror text includes simple mirror and interleaved mirror modes. Flip Upside Down mode includes Flip Only and Flip and Reverse.

3. Preview the Results

Results of the transformation will be shown in the Results pane. You may check the comparison between your original entry and its transformed result along with character count, result length, and word count.

4. Copy, Save, or Reset

To have the text in your clipboard, click the Copy button. For visual representation of the result text, click Save. To make a new transformation, click the Reset button.

What Is Backwards Text?

Backwards text is writing where characters or words are reversed. Full-character reversal means that the final character is moved to the first position, the second-to-final character to the second position, and so on.

For example:

Original: Read this message

Backwards: egassem siht daeR

One may use such a tool by searching for the keywords “backwards text generator,” “backward text generator,” “text backwards generator,” “text reverse generator,” or “online text flipper.” They all point to essentially the same thing, but the different modes will provide quite varied results.

The result is still copyable text. It is neither a new font, translation, text as an image, nor an encryption.

Reverse Characters or Reverse Word Order?

As you can see from their names, both methods have one thing in common. But they make a completely different transformation of the text.

Reverse Every Character

Backwards Text reverses every character in the entire text entry.

Input: Create something new

Output: wen gnihtemos etaerC

This mode is good for classic backwards text, spelling games, secret codes, brain-teasers, coding lessons, and text processing tests.

Reverse Complete Words

Reverse word order is a reversal of complete words from the end of the sentence to the beginning without changing the spelling of any word.

Input: Create something new

Output: new something Create

When searching for a backwards word maker, reverse word maker, reverse words maker, or word flipper, the program can be used both for character reversal and word-order reversal.

Word-order reversal is useful when working on language, writing exercises, building sentences, practicing words, making interesting captions, and playing word games.

Create Mirror Text in Two Different Styles

Mirror writing is not always identical to the regular text reversal. Regular reversal means the reversal of the reading order. Mirror writing usually includes both the regular and reversed texts or creates something new combining them.

Select Mirror Text to use two different styles.

Simple Mirror: ABC CBA

In Simple Mirror, the original text is put before its reversed form. Thus, the output starts normally but later goes backwards.

When applied to the string ABC, this mirror type produces the following:

ABC CBA

This option will work nicely for balanced headings, design elements, puzzles, usernames, text decoration, and anything based on symmetry.

Interleaved: ABC + CBA

As compared to other mirror styles, interleaved mirror puts alternating characters of the original text and its reversed form. With this mirror style, you get not two but one combined text that represents both of your strings.

The resulting mirror will look less common than with a regular mirror effect. This style could come handy when the ordinary mirror looks boring.

When looking for this type of mirror, people may use such terms as “mirror text,” “mirrored text,” “mirror a text,” “text mirror,” “text mirrorer,” “mirror flip text,” “text mirroring tool,” etc. Two options are available in our tool to select a required visual effect.

Make Text Upside Down

With the Flip Upside Down tool, each letter, number, and punctuation mark that is supported will be replaced with its upside-down look-alike character. This effect allows copying and pasting of the text without conversion of the text into an image.

This effect might also be referred to as the following:

  • Upside down text
  • Flip text
  • Flipper text
  • Inverted text
  • Upside down writing
  • Text flipped upside down
  • Upside down font text

The output text might look like another font, but it is done using available text symbols instead of downloading any fonts.

Flip Only

Using this tool, letters and other supported characters will be replaced with their upside-down version but will stay in the same order.

Use this option when you need letters to be upside down but you don’t want the entire entry to be flipped.

Flip and Reverse

Flip and reverse substituted supported characters with upside-down ones after changing their order.

This option is usually more appropriate for text that will be read after turning a phone, screen, or page around.

It can produce:

  • Upside down and backwards text
  • Backwards upside down text
  • Reversed and inverted messages
  • Funny upside down text
  • Cool upside down text
  • Hidden answers and puzzle clues

A good short and funny example would be to enter “I love you” text, experiment with both flipping options, and compare the output before copy-pasting.

A Text Flipper for Copy-and-Paste Results

The flipped result can be highlighted and copied and pasted just like any regular text. This can be helpful if you require a copy-and-paste text flipper rather than an image or a screenshot.

It can be used for:

  • Text messages
  • Group chats
  • Social media bios
  • Captions and comments
  • Notes and documents
  • Puzzle worksheets
  • Presentation drafts
  • Design mockups
  • Game clues
  • Testing environments

The visual representation of reflected and flipped text might differ based on the browser, device, application, and font that are installed.

Copyable Text Characters Vs. Rotated Text Box

When looking up topics related to how to mirror text in Word, how to mirror text in Canva, or how to flip text upside down in Google Docs, it is usually related to rotating a text box, image, or design inside that particular software application.

This tool does not work this way. It alters the order or appearance of the letters so that the result can be copied and pasted.

Choose this tool if you want:

  • To have a replicable backward text sequence
  • The reversal of word order
  • To apply a mirror image
  • A mirrored interleaved text string
  • The replacement of characters with upside-down ones
  • Text to be copy-and-pasteable in another program

Apply the rotate or reflect option within an application if you require the following:

  • An exact reflection of a specific font
  • A text box rotated 180 degrees
  • A design object flipped horizontally
  • Exact positioning on a page or work surface
  • Printing of a design object showing an exact mirror reflection

Software like Microsoft Word, Canva, Google Docs, Google Slides, PowerPoint, Excel, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, and Cricut design software may retain the original font type better if you use the graphic functions available in them.

“Mirror” is also the term for the synchronization of messaging from an iPhone or Apple Watch or another similar product. The tool cannot establish any connection between your devices or mirror messages. It simply transforms the text you inputted.

Practical Ways to Use Reversed, Mirrored, and Flipped Writing

Build Puzzles and Hidden Answers

Reverse a clue, answer, or short text message that will have to be deciphered. The Flip and Reverse functions will make it even more exciting since it will have to be turned over or rotated by the reader.

Create Class Exercises

Teachers can create spelling exercises, exercises with sentences in wrong order, code-breaking exercises, mirrored text, and other similar exercises without changing each word of the sentence themselves.

Try Out Your Name or Phrase

Your name, your username, the name of your group, events or activities you hold, and slogans can be totally different when reversed or mirrored. You may try your entry in different variations to see which one is more fun.

Prepare Game Clues or Escape Room Riddles

Reverse sentences for simple coded messages, create riddles in mirrored letters, or hide some answers written upside down.

Text Handling Logic Test

Programmers and QA engineers can use reversed strings to test text-handling functions, including word order, punctuation, spaces, line breaks, UI, and other cases.

Add a Fun Visual Element

Use funny captions, humorous phrases, or ornamental text instead of regular text. The shorter your entries, the better your results are going to be.

Play with Symmetry and Palindromes

Use words, phrases, or digits that feature inherent balance. A palindrome reads the same way forward and backwards, while mirrored and interleaved text will create symmetry regardless of spelling.

Example Transformations

Use the following text as an example:

Learn something new today

Reverse Text

yadot wen gnihtemos nraeL

Reverse Word Order

today new something Learn

Simple Mirror

First goes the original text, then the same text written backwards.

Interleaved Mirror

A combination of letters from the beginning and end of the text arranged alternately.

Flip Only

All the supported characters get flipped without reversing the whole text sequence.

Flip and Reverse

First, it reverses the entire sequence of text, then flips all the supported characters.

Using the same text for all four transformations is probably the quickest way to see the difference.

Character Support and Important Limitations

The methods Reverse Text and Reverse Word Order primarily affect the location of the input, therefore allowing many characters, digits, and punctuation marks to remain preserved.

Mirror image and upside-down transformations depend on the presence of the character substitutions. Unicode doesn’t provide a reflected or rotated counterpart of each and every letter, digit, punctuation mark, accentuated symbol, emoji, and writing system.

As a result:

  • Some characters might receive a substitution by a visually similar one.
  • Characters unsupported for transformations may stay untransformed.
  • Upper- and lowercase letters might have different outcomes.
  • Accented characters might have insufficient support.
  • Certain non-Latin writing systems may be impossible to transform properly.
  • Different fonts might render the characters in a different way.
  • Spaces and line breaks may affect the interleaved pattern.
  • Transformation results won’t necessarily look the same everywhere.

These restrictions are typical for copyable visual text. In order to achieve perfect reflection of any specific font, apply a graphics editor that provides rotation or mirroring of a rendered text object.

Does It Work With Emojis and Special Characters?

Basic English alphabets and digits and standard punctuation will work well.

In reverse text, the emojis and other special characters might get shifted along with the rest of the text. The fact is that there are some emojis that are created using several Unicode symbols. So their reversal might affect their look.

In case of Flip Upside Down, unsupported emojis and other special characters may not be changed due to the lack of a proper rotation variant.

Accented characters, math signs, and non-English alphabets will not always give predictable results either.

For best results:

  • Start with normal text.
  • Stick to ordinary letters and punctuation.
  • Verify your output before posting it.
  • Save your output as a PNG when a permanent visual effect is required.

Is it possible to reverse text in another language?

The character reversal feature will be useful for most languages due to the fact that this software simply swaps the entered symbols. However, there is an exception for languages like Arabic and Hebrew since they use different rules of displaying the text.

The upside-down and decorative mode will be the most effective on the Latin alphabet due to the fact that the number of available Unicode symbols is larger for this alphabet.

Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and many other alphabets do not contain full lists of alternative symbols for text transformation.

Never forget to check the multilingual text before its use.

Is Reverse Writing the Same as Encryption?

No, reverse text does nothing more than reverse the order of letters. Anyone can easily undo that operation and get the original message.

Example:

Secret message → egassem terceS

While this technique can obscure the short message somewhat visually, it is useless for protecting any sensitive data.

Do not apply this method to any passwords, financial information, personal documents, or confidential messages.

The tool does not interpret the text, decrypt encoded messages, rewrite its content, reverse any audio track, or change the semantics of a sentence. The tool only reverses the order or formatting of letters in the text.

Tips for Better Results

Keep the Input Clean

Eliminate unnecessary spaces, except when it is your desired effect.

Test Short Phrases First

Use a short word or sentence as the test input in order to know how the selected mode works with letters’ formatting.

Select the Mode Based on the Final Use

Use full inversion of the characters to write backwards, inversion of the word order to reorder sentences, mirror text for symmetry, and flip upside down for rotating symbols.

Preview the endpoint.

The output will be displayed differently when you copy it to some other webpage, software, or mobile gadget. Make sure about the final output before submitting it somewhere.

Use the image saving feature if required.

You can save the result as a PNG file if you are not sure that the destination website supports all of the Unicode characters present in the output.

Never Enter Personal Data

Do not insert your personal data such as passwords, financial information, etc., into any web-based text manipulator unless you know what will happen to the information you submit.
